What is the deal?
As someone who is trying to get into the world of Law Enforcement as a cop, there is a lot I have to do to prepare. Not the least of which is pass a physical fitness test to even be elligible for being hired by a department. Since I'm required to be in fairly good shape to get a job, nothing drives me crazier than seeing veteran officers who have let themselves get more than a few pounds overweight. I'm not trying to insult anyone who is overwight, but in our Profession we must be in good physical condition to successfully do our job. This blog, I hope, will help give a basic understanding of how to be a cop, and not a pig.

An excellent connection between your professional interests and our class. I am anxious to lear more. May want to consider adding a photo to yout proflle and other links, etc. Keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree. How can an officer that has ignored the physical demands of his job possibly perform effectively? I understand that there are hard physical tests in order to get a job, become certified, etc. But there should be the same physical tests periodically through your career.
ReplyDeleteI think that is a good point. That same logic can apply to any line of work. The more fit you are, the better you feel overall, and the better you can perform at your job. Any job. I imagine that being a firefighter, construction worker, or roofer could be difficult since these jobs involve carrying alot of equipment around, and these everyday tasks could be made much easier through weight and cardiovascular training.
